KENYA: EVERY COUNTY NEEDS A SWOT-PROPELLED STRATEGIC PLAN.

KENYA: EVERY COUNTY NEEDS A SWOT-PROPELLED STRATEGIC PLAN.

MARCH 4, 2013 in earnest put in place Kenya’s devolution when county governors were elected to run affairs of the counties. Indeed some counties had already put in place “strategic frameworks” designed to guide county priorities. My casual observations reveal that around the country, citizens in a number of counties are demanding from their county officials to deliver ASAP.

Let us agree - the market conditions that counties are facing as they embark on their development paths have been and are in a constant state of flux which forces governors and their teams to come up with relevant and appropriate projects to lay the foundations of their county development pillars. In order to determine how they can best meet their objectives and carry out their missions, county governors must engage in comprehensive strategic planning.

HOW TO WRITE A STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM IN FOUR STEPS

INTRODUCTION

This is a simplified version of my notes on writing a statement of the problem found elsewhere on this website.

 Let€™s define it:

Research can be defined as a systematic investigation into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. It is normally born out of a problem hence the phrase €œstatement of problem€ or €œProblem statement€.

A "Problem Statement" is a description of a difficulty or lack that needs to be solved or at least researched to see whether a solution can be found. It can also be described as either a gap between the real and the desired or a contradiction between principle and practice.

Needless to mention I have once posted an article €“ price controls can be healthy for Kenya on the net.

IMPACT STUDY METHODOLOGIES

Social science research topics on impact, effect and influence are not uncommon among masters and PhD students. I may have no statistics to prove this assertion globally but I can assertively say that it is the case in my own university €“ the Jomo Kenyatta university of Agriculture and Technology in Kenya. Topics phrased as, €œThe impact of €¦ on €¦€ €œThe effects of €¦. On €¦€€The influence of €¦€ have become increasingly popular.

This has brought to the fore a debate on methodological issues surrounding impact study related topics of research.

I want to contribute to this debate by addressing the what, why, when and how of a typical impact study.

THOUGHT

Entrepreneurship is the practice of starting new organizations or revitalizing mature organizations, particularly new businesses generally in response to identified opportunities. Entrepreneurship is often a difficult undertaking, as a vast majority of new businesses fail.
